With AI systems becoming more and more complex and taking over decisions with impactful consequences, putting humans in command becomes more important than ever. Explaining how systems work, which AI methods they use and most importantly how they make decisions is a key challenge to address. Only if this is done successfully, humans can truly control and command complex AI system – and can intervene adequately if necessary.
Funded by the federal Germany ministry of Labour and Social Affairs project AI cockpit aims at researching methods to keep human operators in control of complex software systems. This ranges from technical interfaces to collect standardized information/documentation about a system to interaction experiments, to decide which presentation of data and decisions is most effective.
Starwit Technologies joined this project, to add a cockpit implementation, that sits on top of our product suite, to evaluate traffic control and management.
